传真是现代人日常工作中的常用办公用具，办公中涉及到它的地方肯定不少。看，今天Lily老板的传真就出了点问题。
Dialogue：
David：Lily, did you put this morning’s
faxes on my desk? I’m waiting for some urgent faxes from our
partner, I’m pretty sure they came in last night.
Lily: Everything that came in off the fax
machine last night is all on your desk. But I noticed that
some of the faxes came through pretty blurred. Maybe
you can take a look at them. If the copy is unreadable,
I’ll call them and ask them to refax.
David: Yeah, you have to call them and get them to
be re-faxed. All of these copies are so light that I cannot
make out any of the words. How can that be?
Lily: I think the fax machine is out of
toner, I’ll change the toner cartridge. That should
solve the problem.
David: Yes, but this one will have to be re-faxed
as well. And look, there’re about three pages missing! It
looks like the fax machine ate half my important faxes, and
the ones that made it through are so blurred or too light,
they’re unreadable!
Lily: I guess the fax machine is out of paper,
too. Don’t worry, I’ll have someone look at it this afternoon,
and in the meantime, I’ll have your documents re-faxed
to our other fax machine.

unreadable：不能读，读不了。这是一个加了前缀和后缀的复合词，前缀un-
表示“否定”，后缀-able
表示“能够”，所以unreadable的字面意思就是“不能读”了。
How can that be? “怎么会这样？”
out of toner：没有墨了。out of的意思是什么东西用光了。out
of paper的意思是纸用完了。
