办公环境中，信息传递方式很多，电话，传真，邮件，其中还有一种叫做memo，有点类似于小便条，用于传递各种及时消息，类似于通知、备忘录。下面的对话是关于memo的，一起看一下吧。

 

Lily: I’ve been waiting here in the conference room for nearly ten minutes. When will our meeting start? Where is everyone anyway?

Rachel: Didn’t you hear about that? Our meeting was postponed until Friday.

Lily: What? The meeting was postponed? No one told me anything about it.

Rachel: Didn’t you get the memo?

Lily: What memo? There haven’t been any memos this whole week. I check my in-box every day, and I haven’t seen anything.

Rachel: The memo went out days ago. It should have made it to your in-box, but maybe it got lost in all the clutter on your desk.

Lily: You know how things get piled up on my desk when I am busy – I know that sometimes I do misplace things, but I always read all the memos that go around. They go directly to my in-box. Are you sure it was sent to the whole office?

Rachel: It should have gone around to everybody. They also posted a copy of the memos in the break-room. Don’t you ever look at the messages posted on the bulletin board?

Lily: I’m usually too busy to take a bunch of coffee breaks and gossip by the water cooler. Anyway, I am sure the memo never got to my in-box. I’ll have to talk to our secretary about it.

Rachel: That’s right. You never know what you’re missing out on if you don’t read the memos.

Many cities around the world have conversation clubs where people can exchange one language for another. Look in your local newspaper to find a conversation club near you. They are usually free although some may charge a small entrance fee.

交谈俱乐部（英语角？）

世界各地很多城市都有交谈俱乐部，在这里人们互换语言。看一下你当地的报纸，找找你附近的俱乐部。这些俱乐部通常是免费的，少部分会收取少量入门费。

 

If you go to a language school, you should use the opportunity to speak to your teachers and other students. When you go home, you can still practise listening, reading and writing, but you probably can't practise speaking. If your teacher asks you a question, take the opportunity to answer. Try to say as much as possible. If your teacher asks you to speak in pairs or groups with other students, try to say as much as possible. Don't worry about your mistakes. Just speak!

如果你在读语言学校，你可以多和你的英语老师或同学交谈。回到家，你仍然可以练习听，读和写，可是你不可能练习说。如果你的老师问你一个问题，借此机会好好回答，尽可能多说。如果老师要求你们成对或者小组练习，尽量多表达。别管错没错，就是说！
